What is ClipKnight?
ClipKnight is a downloader for public X posts. Paste a post link and it finds the video, GIF or photo in that post and hands you the file.
Does ClipKnight work on iPhone and iPad?
Yes. Open the post in Safari on iOS 13 or later, tap Share and choose Copy link, then paste it into ClipKnight and press Download. Safari will ask where you want to save the file.
How do I download on Android?
Copy the post link in the X app, open ClipKnight in Chrome, paste the link into the box and press Download. The file appears in your Downloads folder.
Does ClipKnight keep a copy of my downloads?
No. We do not store your files, we do not keep a copy after you download, and we do not store your download history. The media stays on X's servers and comes straight to your device.
Why can I not download some posts?
ClipKnight only handles public posts. If an account is protected, or the author has restricted who can view the post, we cannot reach the media and we will not try to work around it.
Do I need to log in to X?
No. ClipKnight never asks for your X username or password, and we would never ask you for them.
Is ClipKnight really free?
Yes. ClipKnight is free to use with no limits on how many files you save. A small number of ads keeps it running.
I cannot find the file after downloading. Where is it?
Check your browser's download history, or the Downloads folder on your phone. On iPhone, look in the Files app under Downloads.
Is it legal to download these videos?
That depends on the content and on your rights to it. Downloading your own posts, or posts you have permission to save, is generally fine. Republishing someone else's video without permission may infringe copyright.
